Norman & Oklahoma City braces
Metal braces are strong and able to fix most orthodontic issues, making them the top type of braces treatment for orthodontic patients year after year. Each set of braces is customized in our Oklahoma City or Norman in-office lab to treat patients of all ages.
Metal braces have previously had a reputation for being awkward and obvious. But, because of modern orthodontics, you’ll benefit from our braces that are smaller, less conspicuous, and more comfortable than ever. Traditional braces have come a long way and work quickly and effectively to give you a straighter smile.
Customized metal braces
Since we customize your metal braces specifically for your smile, metal braces can work faster to straighten teeth and close gaps than other orthodontic treatments. This means less time in braces and more time enjoying your smile!
Get your customized braces fabricated in our in-house lab. Our team creates customized braces for adults, teens and children according to their unique condition and lifestyle. Your braces will fit comfortably and naturally—and who doesn’t want that?
What are braces made of?
The brackets used by our team are durable and made from a mix of stainless steel, nickel, and other metals. These have little hooks or doors where a wire is threaded. We can secure each one by closing the door or placing an elastic over the top of the wire.
This is what we will use to attach the brackets to your teeth. It’s common to attach the brackets directly to the tooth with glue.
This thin piece of metal runs from one bracket to another. We’ll change the wire's shape and curvature to move your teeth in the right direction. The wire will often attach all of your bottom or upper teeth. We might occasionally cut the wire if connecting just a few teeth is better for your treatment plan.
If you need bite correction, elastics are essential. They’re generally strung between an upper bracket hook and a lower bracket hook to pull your upper jaw backward to correct an overbite or the lower jaw back to correct an underbite.
We use these tiny elastic “donuts” or rings to create space between your teeth when needed, typically before we place your bands. People also refer to them as "separators."
We cement these stainless steel rings to your teeth using dental bonding agents. These bands anchor your braces and orthodontic appliances, but we don’t always use them for everyone.
Elastic ties / O-rings / ligatures / colors
These tiny rubber rings or bands attach the archwire to the metal brackets. Elastics are less rigid than spacers and are available in dozens of colors.
